Just a Website Isn't Enough: Why You Need SEO

So, you have a shiny new website? It’s beautiful (we’re taking that for granted if we designed it), it’s well laid out, has great content and is easy to navigate. Great!

Is a Great Website Enough?

Well, having a stunning, well-designed website is an excellent start.

It means that people who visit your website have the opportunity to be wowed by your services and/or products and can easily contact you.

Those are fantastic things and what you want out of a website but let us ask you one question...

How will your potential customers find your website?

It's a very important question and one that you need to have an answer to if you plan on growing your business through your website. Luckily, we’re here to help.

Having a website is a crucial element of having a successful business. Predominantly, most people will look for products and services online.

However, you need to be findable to be successful.

How Do You Become Findable on Google?

Just having a website designed won’t make you discoverable on Google (please note: others search engines our available…let’s face it though, it’s unlikely that you’ll use them).

Essentially, most people will only look at the first couple of pages of Google when they are trying to find a business. That means that’s where you need to show up.

Typically, a website won’t automatically show up on those pages without something called Search Engine Optimisation, AKA SEO.

What Exactly Is SEO?

That’s a great question, you are clearly a smart cookie!

We know that people can find SEO a little bit confusing, and we completely understand. Basically, search engine optimisation is a way of editing, formatting and adding content on your website so that Google thinks it is worthy of pushing to the top of the SERPs (search engine results pages).

That means if someone searches for a keyword/s that could potentially be linked to your business, then your website will come up. For example, if you were a shutter installer in Cornwall, Google will bring up your website for the keywords ‘shutters Cornwall’ if you have a page that has been optimised for that. Obviously, the keywords are very business dependent but the idea of SEO is that you will come up for the keywords relevant to you.

You might hope that a website will automatically do that but with so much competition out there: many who already do optimisation, you are unlikely to simply appear at the top of page one.

That’s Where SEO Comes In

To give a web page a high chance of landing a top position on Google, it needs to be optimised. Optimisation involves a number of skills, techniques, experience and software.

This allows us to prime your page to be not just competitive in terms of its ability to rank well, but also to be created in a way that makes it much better at converting potential customers into paying customers.

A Great Website + SEO = Business Gold

If you want the real perfect pairing for your business, having a great website, with SEO is a winning combination.

Not only will you be found by customers looking for your service, but you will also then ensure that the customers will want to use your business.
